A Sweet Shore Tradition Since 1965
Our Family Story
Britton’s Gourmet Bakery began in Stone Harbor in 1965, founded by Ray and Marie Britton. In 1992, the bakery moved to Wildwood Crest, where it has welcomed generations of locals and shore visitors ever since.
Carried on for many years with the help of their daughter, Marianne, Britton’s is now owned and operated by their granddaughter Christa and her husband, Eli—continuing the family story into its third generation.
We still use the original recipes and honor the traditions that have made Britton’s part of so many mornings at the shore. From our famous apple fritters to our donuts, cinnamon buns, and pastries, those familiar favorites remain at the heart of what we do.
We’re committed to making Britton’s the best it can be, putting care into everything we bake and every customer we welcome. We’re proud to carry our family’s legacy forward and grateful to everyone who makes Britton’s part of their shore traditions.
What We’re Known For
Our famous apple fritters have long been a reason to make an early stop at Britton’s. Alongside them, our gourmet donuts, cinnamon buns, and cinnamon coffee rolls have become familiar favorites for customers who return summer after summer. We continue to make them using the original recipes and family traditions that define our bakery.
Our selection also includes buttery croissants, Danish, crumb cake, muffins, and delicate French and Italian pastries, including sfogliatella. Whether you’re bringing home breakfast for the family or choosing a treat to enjoy with your coffee, there’s something special about finding your favorite in the bakery case.
A Shore Tradition
For many of our customers, a visit to Britton’s is part of coming back to the shore. We love seeing familiar faces, meeting first-time visitors, and welcoming the next generation of families who grew up with our bakery. Those connections mean as much to us as the baking itself, and they inspire us to keep making Britton’s the best it can be.
Recognition Through the Years
We’re proud of the recognition Britton’s has received over the years, including Best of Jersey Shore honors and features in South Jersey Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of the Shore coverage. We’re grateful to the readers, customers, and writers who have shared their love for our bakery and helped introduce our family’s favorites to new visitors.
One especially memorable moment came in 1982, when President Ronald Reagan wrote to say how much he and Nancy enjoyed our apple fritters—a treasured piece of Britton’s history.
